Important reminders for using substitute players!
As we discussed at the captains meeting, and as is detailed in the PADA League rules, PLEASE handle the use of substitute player appropriately! This can cause a delay in approving stats, confusion as to entering stats and match results, or even scores being reversed or removed if we view that the rule is being ignored or abused.
It is very important that the league (Jason, Isaac, Shawn or the Divisional Statisticians) know when you are going to use a sub. That gives us the chance to make sure it is not someone playing lower than they should, so we do not hear complaints about the sub later. We also want to make sure that people adhere to the rule of only subbing twice in a season before being a member and having to join a team.
To keep things running smoothly, it is important that the use of sub players be properly reported in League Republic. This has OVERWHELMINGLY been handled incorrectly this season. It is important that if you use a sub, it is known during the match that the player is a sub. As we discuss in the PADA rules, sub players do not get or receive sportsman votes at the conclusion of the match, as the roster players do. If the team using the sub loses, the winning team must know they were a sub to properly enter scores for the match. If these things are entered incorrectly or incompletely, it results in the match not being approved and posted until the stats are cleared up and valid.
Anytime a sub is used, they must be listed for the match in the notes. We need their full name, and what their record was in singles. If their name is listed, and their singles record make for the correct number of games played by the team, the score will be approved. E.g. “John Doe subbed for the A-Team and was 2-1 in 501 and 0-2 in cricket.” Really simple, but gives us all the info we need.
It isn’t very hard, folks. Let me know if you have any questions or problems, but let’s try to all do a better job using subs and making it easy for opposing captains to enter stats, others to view stats and also convenient for everyone to use subs.
Thanks!
P.s. This is the largest hang up in scores being posted this season. If people are better about this, scores will be approved and posted publicly more quickly! 🙂
